Assistant Accountant

Cardiff | £28,000 - £30,000 per annum | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | Permanent

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a growing finance team in Cardiff on behalf of our valued client.

This is an exciting opportunity for a part-qualified or actively studying finance professional to develop their skills in a dynamic environment, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The role offers varied responsibilities across financial operations, month-end processes, and management reporting - perfect for someone eager to grow and take ownership within a supportive team.

Key Duties:

• Support the CFO with a wide range of financial and administrative tasks.
• Take responsibility for the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare comprehensive management accounts and provide valuable financial insights.
• Perform regular stock reconciliations and valuations.
• Manage prepayments, accruals, and ensure ledgers are up to date.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and accurately calculate depreciation.
• Post journals and record all financial transactions accurately.
• Process bank payments efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Keep accounting systems and financial records fully updated.
• Provide general finance support and cover as required.

Requirements:

• Part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, AAT) or currently studying towards a professional accounting qualification.
• Previous accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Sound understanding of accounting principles and standards.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
• Proactive, motivated, and eager to continue developing in your finance career.
