Mobile Plant Fitter

Scunthorpe | From £18-£36 per hour plus Company Van | Full time | Permanent | Onsite and Field-based

Are you a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter with experience working on heavy plant and mobile screening equipment? Join a respected sub-contractor based in Scunthorpe Steelworks, offering excellent pay rates, a company van, and the opportunity to work across a range of equipment in a busy industrial environment.

About the Role:

In this full-time position, you'll carry out maintenance and repairs on mobile screening and crushing equipment, as well as heavy construction machinery such as excavators and dump trucks. You'll work across steelworks and similar industrial environments, ensuring all plant equipment remains in safe, operational condition.

Working Hours & Pay:

  • Monday - Friday, averaging 55 hours per week.
  • £18 per hour for basic 40 hours.
  • £27 per hour for overtime and Saturdays.
  • £36 per hour for Sundays and Bank Holidays.
  • Company van provided.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general maintenance and servicing of mobile plant equipment.
  • Fit meshes, bearings, and replace belts.
  • Perform repairs on screening/crushing equipment and heavy plant.
  • Diagnose faults and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and site compliance.
  • Complete any additional maintenance or repair duties as required.

Core Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or Heavy Plant Mechanic.
  • Mechanical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of construction plant equipment (excavators, dump trucks, etc.).
  • Experience in quarrying, recycling, or industrial environments.
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport.

Additional Requirements:

  • CCNSG Site Safety Passport (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Strong problem-solving and mechanical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to different locations as needed.
  • A reliable and safety-conscious approach to work.
